The East Coast
View
this Collection . . .
The ledges and cliffs of Acadia National Park are very accessible and filled with colorful surprises. The gnarly pines and tide pools are often obscured by shifting, wispy fog that creates drama and mystery unlike any place I've ever painted.

The Prairie
View
this Collection . . .
The grasslands and winding rivers have invited me to slow down and observe a landscape that is hypnotizing in its quiet subtlety. The elegant Great Blue Heron has often been my companion as I explore the riverbanks in search of hidden beauty.

The Southwest
View
this Collection . . .
The drama of the Southwest has provided me with endless inspiration to paint canvases filled with unusual light and saturated color. Point Lobos, south of Carmel, California is one of my favorite places. The coastline and canyons are peaceful, filled with long shadows and unusual rock formations, and always exciting.

The Portrait
View
this Collection . . .
Recording a likeness of a person is expected in portrait work. However, capturing the emotion and personality observed during a painting session is the challenge and reward. A line, a stroke, or the flick of the brush can obscure or reveal individual character.

The Explorations
View
this Collection . . .
The challenge to remain fresh and interesting is pulling me to experiment with an alternate approach to painting. Blurring the line between representational and abstract is challenging, fun, and difficult to do well.
Interpreting a scene with a stronger emphasis on design for its own sake is valid and may reveal something I should have explored long ago.
